We are an enthusiastic and vibrant team working creatively with Older Adults (over 65) living in residential and nursing care homes across North East Essex. We work alongside the Adult, their families, care home staff and other involved professionals to ensure we maximise their potential and promote positive outcomes. The team works to Good Lives principles and promotes innovation and positive risk management.

We aim to:
  • Support Adults in short term or temporary placements to return home
  • Give opportunities to Adults who wish to take up supported housing options
  • Ensure the experience of living in a residential setting is positive for the person
  • Investigate any safeguarding concerns and work to improve standards

We require enthusiastic social workers committed to undertaking person centred work with individuals focussing on their strengths, interests and assets in accordance with the Care Act 2014.

You will need to be passionate about developing a clear and comprehensive understanding of what is most important to each person. It is important to us that Older Adults do not lose their identity or dignity, and that we work toward maximising the strengths and abilities they have.

We aim to maintain support for each individual and encourage continued independence where possible within in a residential setting.

It is also vital that you are passionate about helping Adults who wish to move out of the care setting to either independent living or back to their own home and that they are supported to achieve this.

You will be involved in building links with the local community, and working closely with other partner organisations to promote multidisciplinary working.

You will need to have a good understanding of the Care Act 2014, Mental Capacity Act 2005 and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards 2007.

You will need to be able to write evidence based, person centred and strength and assets based assessments and reviews.

You will be required to work alongside colleagues in care homes, to develop positive working relationships and recognise, acknowledge and promote best practice.

The team is responsible for adult safeguards and you will need to complete safeguarding investigations in line with the Care Act 2014.

You will be provided with in-depth supervision, training and be encouraged to take advantage of creative peer support opportunities.

You will be encouraged and supported to work independently and therefore use your initiative and form grounded opinions and judgements within an experienced and dynamic team.

Skills, Knowledge and Experience
  • Diploma / Degree in Social Work
  • HCPC registered
  • Case load management in line with the Care Act
  • Excellent organisation skills with the ability to manage your own time
  • Ability to engage and influence with multiple agencies
  • Passionate and driven to support your own continuing personal development (CPD)
The role requires you to be mobile throughout a wide operational area including travelling around the County of Essex and beyond, transporting service users and their belongings and to be able to do so in an emergency. Driving licence and car or ability to meet the mobility requirements of the role through other means is essential.
