We are recruiting for a Workshop Assistant for our well established client who are world leaders in innovative productivity tools for chemists.

This vacancy will suit someone who is hardworking and looking to get their foot in the door, with a well established manufacturing business. No experience is necessary, but we would ideally like to hear from people who have some workshop/warehouse experience or have an interest/background in skilled trades.

Duties Include: Supporting the Production Manager and Scientific Glassblowers.
Pre-cutting of glass componentsGrinding of glass componentsFlame polishing of glass componentsAssistance with annealing of glasswareAssembly of non-glass items e.g. frameworks, probes etc.Manufacture of glass sub-componentsAllocation of materialsMovement of raw materialsHelp in management of stock levels of raw materialsAny other activities that improve Glassblower and Assembler productivity

General Workshop duties:

Daily cleaning of workshop, comprising of sweeping, washing the floors and emptying glass binsProviding tea and coffee as requiredChanging gas cylindersHelp in maintaining Health and Safety standards in workshop and across the CompanyAny other general duties as required to ensure the smooth running of the workshop and the company in general

 Building Maintenance tasks:

Carrying out general Building Maintenance across the company site 
(inside and outside of buildings)Including, but not limited to, changing bulbs, cleaning outside of buildings, cleaning fans, minor repairs, small maintenance, painting etcFlexibility in working hours - overtime is occasionally required

 Experience & Skills

Ideally with previous experience in a production environment, though not essentialNumerate and literateBasic computer skillsGood with hands and practical tasksFull driving license preferred (no specialist license is required)

Good time keeper and reliableAdaptable and willing to learn new skillsWell organised and tidyMethodical with an attention to detail Pleasant & positive manner, to be able to communicate with internal personnel and suppliers Willing to get ‘stuck in’ at all levels and to undertake whatever is required to complete the jobEnthusiasm and perseverance with a positive ‘can do’ attitude
