An exciting opportunity has arisen with West Suffolk Councils. We are currently looking for a Park Ranger to come and join our team with West Suffolk Operations based in East Town Park in Haverhill. You will join us on a part time, permanent basis (866 hours per year, on a fixed rota) and will receive a competitive salary of £17,072- £20,661 per annum pro rata.

About the Park Ranger role

You will be working within the existing Ranger Services and will be involved in encouraging the use of Parks and Open Spaces within West Suffolk.

Duties as our Park Ranger will include:

- patrolling parks and public open spaces on a bicycle, on foot and using a work vehicle

- meeting and advising the public in the use of the facilities

- enforcing regulations

- assist in running volunteer work parties

- assist with and run events and activities

- maintaining the protection and security of all the facilities and equipment within the parks, including flora and fauna and ancient monuments.

What we’re looking for in our Park Ranger

You will be keen to be involved in the care of green spaces and facilities and have previous experience of working with the public.  Personal qualities such as effective communication skills, the ability to deal with the public in a helpful and tactful manner, an enthusiastic approach, numeracy and literacy are essential.  A good knowledge of the local area is desirable.  The role involves a large amount of lone working and working weekends and evenings.
